A baby furniture crib may seem like the best place for baby when it’s time for their nap or to get to sleep for the evening. However, the crib can sometimes be the most dangerous place for your child! If you take care, then your baby will be safe; skip these important precautions and you may be placing your baby in danger.

Parents and other caretakers need to follow good crib safety tips to keep the child protected from harm.

The first important thing is to remember to always lay infants on their backs. This will prevent the infant from choking. Also, make sure that the crib has a tight fitted sheet over the crib mattress. Crib sheets that are not the correct size will come undone and could possibly result in the choking or suffocation of the infant.

While it may be fun and decorative to place all kinds of pillows, blankets, stuffed animals, comforters, and bumper pads on the inside of the crib, it is not advisable to place it all in there when the infant is placed inside. If you are going to have these things inside the crib throughout the day that is fine, but you have to make sure that it is all removed when you lay the child down to rest or sleep.

As far as the actual baby furniture cribs themselves, it is important to make sure that the slats of the crib are not too far apart. There should be no more then 2 and 3/8 inches of space in between the slats. It is also important to make sure that the wooden cribs are splinter free and that all of the joints and the parts fit together perfectly and tightly. If the crib is painted, then it must be lead free paint with no cracks or paint that is peeling away.

And no matter how cute it looks, avoid placing decorative cut outs on the end panels on the inside of the crib. These fall off and the infant could choke on them. It is also extremely important to make sure that the mattress is the same size as the crib so that arms and legs do not end up trapped in the crib. The side of the crib that lowers should be hand operated and it should always be able to be locked into place without a fear of it unintentionally snapping apart which very well could harm the baby.

By following these basic precautions, you can make sure that the crib your baby sleeps in is a safe place for them to rest. It’s a mistake to ignore the possible dangers which can be even here in what should be the safest place in your home.

Take a few moments to inspect the crib that belongs to your baby and see if there are any improvements you could make to make it a safer place for your baby to relax.

Who wouldnt have loved a bedroom packed with jungle animals? Why not create a gorgeous jungle nursery for your little one? Here are 5 reasons why Jungle Crib Bedding creates a beautiful nursery for your baby boy or girl!

Especially if you dont know if youre having a baby boy or girl as jungle crib bedding sets mostly gender neutral. Some have a bit more blue or pink or extra illustrations that might suggest boy or girl but most sets would fit both sexes perfectly.

These sets make it easy to find matching paint colors! Most sets are very colorful so you can always find a color you like or use a blue or pink if you want. As these sets are colorful enough for some using a neutral color on your walls is an option too of course.

Its not all babyish illustrations, you can have very modern designs too. This theme especially has some sets with amazing illustrations of jungle animals like elephants, giraffes, monkeys and even hippos! The detail in some of these sets is extraordinary with the use of different colors and fabrics.

I can imagine that you dont want to spent a lot of money on a set you can only use for a short period of time. If you pick a jungle themed crib bedding set it will grow with your baby into its toddler years and some even beyond.

If you are not as creative as you like to be matching accessories is the solution to your decorating dilemma. Its possible to add matching accessories to these bedding sets if you want to. Most sets have matching mobiles, hampers, diaper stackers and even wall art.

Always make sure what is included in a set before you add anything else to your order. Most of the time 4 piece bedding sets include: quilt or coverlet, sheet, dust ruffle or crib skirt and a bumper. Some sets include some extra items like a hamper or diaper stacker.

You dont have to be a creative person to create a fun and amazing environment for your baby (if you are the sky is the limit) and that is what I love about jungle crib bedding!

We parents right now are always in a rush to get their kids out of diapers. Who doesn’t want to? With such a tight schedule, our kids will always bother our way with their toilet sessions. Unfortunately it is not the parent who decides when a child is ready to potty train, it is the child himself. Rushing the process generally tends to backfire to us parents, making the situation longer to succeed.

Kids are physically and mentally ready to potty train at around 18-24 months old. You will begin to see signs that your child is ready by that time. They will get to start to be interested in the toilet and will want to know what you are doing on it.

Some kids will even sit on the seat and pretend to use the toilet just like an adult. You will begin to notice that your child will begin to tell you when his diaper is wet or dirty. Also, they might even begin to tell you while they are going or maybe even just before they go.

In most cases, your child will be irritated when his diaper is soiled and will tend to stay dry for a few hours at a time. These are all excellent signs of a child being ready to begin toilet training.

Another important, yet ignored, sign is when your child can pull his own pants up and down. You can make this easier with him if you let him with pants that are a little on the larger side. He will also start to show interest in big kid’s underwear and ask to get some.

With these signs, now is the perfect point to introduce your child to using the potty. You can take him out and select a potty seat that catches his interest. Probably start with his favorite cartoon character or his favorite color Find some related books or DVDs about potty training and share them with your child. Make the process interesting and build some excitement.

You can also try to teach him the basic steps of using the toilet including taking off his pants and underwear, sitting on the toilet, going to the bathroom, wiping, pulling up his clothes, flushing and washing his hands.

When you are ready, here’s a great tip. Start giving your child extra fluids during the day. Water is the best option. Practice taking your child to the bathroom every half hour to get him to practice using the toilet and hopefully have a successful effort.

Take your time while he is on the seat possibly singing a song or reading a short story. When he finally goes, be sure to praise him thoroughly and make a big deal about it.

By ensuring first that your child is ready to begin toilet training before doing the actual process taking your time, you will increase the chances that your efforts will be successful. Also, taking the time is the key in potty training.

Remember that your child is the one who must put the effort into the actual toileting, so make sure that he is enthusiastic about the process. Just keep things positive and in no time, no more diapers to change.

Most toddlers at one time or another offer resistance to their potty training program. This can be very frustrating to parents and lead to a battle of wills with the child. Before gearing up for battle with your child, let’s look at some of the reasons behind potty training resistance and what can be done about them.

Readiness

Before deciding to launch a potty training campaign, be sure your child is ready. If your toddler isn’t exhibiting any of the signs of potty training readiness, they will not cooperate because they doesn’t understand what you want him to do. A frustrated and confused child is a resistant child.

You’ll know your child is ready when he:

- Shows curiosity about the bathroom and what happens there - Has longer periods of bowel and bladder control - Begins to tell you when they need to be changed

Stage

Most potty training begins at about the same time your child starts asserting himself and learning he can control his environment to some extent with “yes and “no”. As any parent of a toddler will attest, “no” is the favorite word. A child that is telling you or ignoring you may just be practicing his new found ability to choose for himself. Find a way to present potty training in a way that he will choose it, “Big kids use the potty. Do you want to be a big kid and use the potty?”

Mixed Messages

A child can easily be confused by conflicting messages about his bodily functions. If the bathroom has been off limits previously, he may not understand why he is to go in there now. If he’s been told his dirty diaper is “yucky” or “nasty” he may be anxious about elimination in general.

Overcoming Resistance

Gentle persistence and persuasion are the best tools to overcome potty training resistance. At his next pediatrician visit, ask your doctor to talk to him about potty training. The more people he can interact with that encourage him to learn to use the toilet, the stronger the message becomes.

Potty training resistance is only temporary and will pass when they are ready to begin (or continue) it.

Do you use a shopping cart cover when you take your little one to the store with you? You should. Shopping cart baby protection is a serious matter and I’m going to explain why.

You can be certain that many of the carts, if not all, are not cleaned, disinfected, and maintained properly. To ensure your baby’s health and well-being, take the steps necessary for prevention of illness.

Once you have your baby or toddler buckled in the shopping cart cover, you also have the option of using a bottle pocket, toy pocket, multiple loop attachments which allows you to secure small toys and pacifiers so the child cannot throw toys or pacifiers on the dirty store floor.

There are also Double Shopping Cart covers for those who have two small children. They have extra storage and a “mommy pocket” for diapers, wipes, sippy cups etc.

You can find baby cart covers online such as handmade4baby.com. Their covers are hand-crafted and can be customized with a personal design of your choice. Use them in standard or in double warehouse carts. Are you having a family outing at the restaurant? These covers can be used for restaurant high chairs also. Maybe you would prefer an original 3 in 1 custom order that contains the cart cover, tote bag, and functions as a pillow.

The covers are padded, completely washable, and can be crafted in organic fabric. When purchasing a cart cover, make sure that it meets your needs and that of your baby. With this in mind, it will help facilitate a worry-free shopping experience.

I really love that this product is available for our little ones. The most important thing is that it protects them from the germs that are inevitable on grocery carts, swings and public high chairs without this cover , but what I also love is that it’s a great gift for baby showers, bar and bat mitzvahs, christenings, birthdays, etc.

Some websites offer custom made covers where you can add the baby’s name - which is always a nice touch. I’m always on the search for a really nice, unique gift and not only is this one of those products, but this is actually extremely useful - the recipient will really appreciate it - and so will the baby - those grocery cart seats can’t be comfortable.

There are often bumps along the potty training road. Knowing where to find help can make it easier for parents to get the potty training program back on track.

Your Pediatrician

He or she deals with potty training questions all day long and can well be the best person to turn to for help. The pediatrician not only can tell you about potty training in general, she can assess your child and give you her opinion of your child’s readiness to undertake potty training. All the good advice in the world will be of no help if your child is not developmentally ready to be potty trained. She can also give your child a physical and identify any medical issues that may complicate potty training such as a urinary tract infection.

Books

Look for advice in parenting books, and while you’re at the bookstore, get a kid’s book about potty training for your child. He’ll enjoy having his own book and you can use it to talk about his potty training.

Day Care Providers

If your child goes to daycare, talk to your provider. She’s probably been through the potty training process with several children and can give you good advice about what’s worked well in the past. It’s also important that she be part of your potty training team and uses the same process you use at home to potty train your child.

Older Children

If you have older children at home or if your child is around older children elsewhere, you already know how much little kids want to be like big kids. If your child realizes that big kids use the potty and little kids wear diapers, he will soon make the decision for himself to cooperate with potty training.

Reinforcements/Rewards

Often implementing a reward system can get a stalled potty training routine moving again. A simple sticker chart and some stickers may be all your child needs to find the motivation to use the potty. Getting to choose his sticker and put it on his chart can give your child a sense of involvement in the process. Potty training help is never far away.

The art of giving baby shower gifts is all about creativity and individuality this year. Although there are many gifts that are suitable for both baby boys and girls, there are some items that make particularly great presents specifically for each gender. This article will offer some clever ideas that are perfect for any new baby boy shower.

A classic favorite that has become increasingly popular this year for baby showers is the baby shower cake. Diaper cakes are appealing to the eye and extremely useful for any mommy-to-be. These beautiful creations resemble a real, multi-layered cake and hold different types of essential items for your baby. The cake is constructed of good quality diapers, such as the Pampers brand, beautifully tied together with ribbon and adorned with necessary baby items like bibs, rattles, and baby bottles.

Now, there are many businesses that are exclusively dedicated to making and selling different types of diaper cakes. Baby shower cakes for baby boys are as cute as can be, and are usually themed after a “boyish” theme like sports, tools, or animals. Classic diaper cakes for baby boys are white and baby blue, with patterns like polka dots, stripes, plaid, or gingham. A baby boy-themed diaper cake makes a great-looking present, ranks among the most popular gifts for this year, and is among the most useful of all gifts.

A humorous but remarkably smart new creation that any mother of a baby boy will appreciate and use on a daily basis is the new “Pee-Pee TeePee.” The name of this great, new creation probably gives you a pretty good idea of what it can possibly be. When parents of baby boys change their little diapers, they can be exposed to an unexpected spring of the little one’s “pee-pee.” The Pee-Pee TeePee is a cute, small teepee-shaped, 100% cotton cone that can be placed on your baby boy’s wee-wee during diaper changes to avoid a pee-pee surprise! Pee-Pee TeePees come in different colors and with a decorative pattern such as little airplanes in the sky.

A very popular gift for parents of a baby boy who are sports fans or college graduates is sports fan baby boy clothing. Whether it be a college sports team or a major league team, a clothing item representing the parents’ favorite sports team is bound to make smiles happen. Football or basketball jerseys, a T-shirt with the team’s logo, a baseball cap, or a track suit are all fabulous ideas for baby sportswear.

Little wagon gift sets are an alternative to traditional gift baskets and have a boyish twist to the common baby shower gift. These are usually little red wagons filled with learning toys, stuffed animals, and baby essentials for your little one. Little wagon gift sets stand out from ordinary gift baskets with their extraordinary look and fun appearance.

These are some of the most popular baby boy gifts that are both fun and practical and are sure to please any new Mom, Dad and Baby.

If you are in a place where you need to shop for a crib for your baby, it can be very easy to get overwhelmed. There are lots of things to think about, after all!

When you go to buy a crib, remember that you should consider your space constraints as well as who might be coming in and out of your nursery. Also remember what your budget is like and how much you spend.

What kind of cribs are available for you to choose from?

The first one that you are likely to run into is the standard crib, which is very common and can be purchased just about anywhere. They have single or double drop sides, which make it easier to get to your baby.

A double drop side crib really only makes sense when the crib is not located against the wall and can be accessed from either side.

One great way to save money in the long run is to look into the convertible crib. These cribs are a great way to save money because they will eventually be converted from a crib into being a toddler’s bed. Though the initial outlay of cash is going to be more substantial, you’ll find that it will pay for itself down the road. These cribs might turn into a day bed, a toddler bed or even a small full sized bed.

Typically, what happens is the head and the foot of the bed can be pulled apart and turned into the head and foot for a full bed. Consider looking for a universally simple design. Look for one that you can continually paint and decorate when you are looking at keeping your baby’s room decorated.

Want to add some elegance to your baby’s nursery? Then, you may want to choose a Canopy Crib. They typically have posts on all four corners of the crib to allow for a canopy frame on which the canopy will then sit.

You can look for canopies that are designed to go on the bed, or you may decide to get crafty and to try making it yourself. You can use fabric that you have already used when it comes to decorating your nursery. Canopies can also be a great way to give a baby some privacy if he or she shares with you or with a sibling.

Another great design that we are only going to be seeing more of is the Round Crib. A round crib is exactly what it sounds like. It allows your baby to sleep in any direction that he or she pleases, and the drop side will let you reach in and scoop your baby up whenever you please. These cribs have no concussion points, unlike traditional rectangular cribs and they will not endanger your child’s safety. This can be a great way to give your baby a 360 degree view of the world around them.

The food you eat when you breastfeed will directly affect the milk your baby is getting from you. Whether you choose to feed from the breast or pump with a ameda breast pump, medela breast pump or an avent duo pump doesnt matter when it comes to diet. Although there isnt a list of foods a nursing mom should eat, there are guidelines to abide by during these crucial first months of your babys development.

Fortunately, breast-feeding women do not have to consume special diets in order to provide the best nutrients for their baby. Breast-feeding women need to provide additional calories in their daily diet. To offset the strain of breast-feeding on their body. Additionally, some breast-feeding women believe that they need to consume or force extra fluids when they are nursing. However, this is not true, and is been shown that extra water may actually hurt the milk supply.

Women who eat well, reap the rewards. There have been studies conducted that suggest that by ingesting organic dairy products and meat will increase the good fatty acids found in breast milk. Also, moms who eat fish will pass the beneficial omega 3s onto their baby, which help in brain development. You must be careful when eating fish because some of it is high in mercury which can be harmful to the baby. Some nursing moms say that oatmeal boots milk production and supply.

Some people wonder about allergies while breastfeeding. Studies have concluded that just because mom may be allergic to a particular food, doesnt mean that the baby will be allergic. Not only that, but the allergy will not be passed through the breast milk. It is advised to keep an eye on your baby if you do eat something youre allergic to. If you introduce a new food into your diet and you notice that your baby responds with a stomach ache, remove it from your diet and see if it solves the issue. After you cut the food out, introduce it again and see if your baby has the same reaction. If so, you know to avoid that food.

Your baby will let you know what works and what doesnt. Some babies dont respond at all to caffeine while others do. Keep an eye on your babys reactions to work as an indicator of what to do and not to do. Eating spicy foods may be beneficial for your baby because if will change the taste and prepare them for solid foods in the future.

Some moms may want to avoid some foods and beverages. For example pineapple, organs, tomatoes, lemon and grapefruit may cause a skin reaction in the baby. If a mom chooses to consume caffeine, the baby should be closely watched for any possible reactions.

Remember there are also additional things that may affect breast milk. Smoking for one can affect breast milk but breast-feeding and smoking is better than smoking and formula-feeding, but quitting smoking should be a mothers goal. Women may also have an alcoholic drink in modesty but if there is a question as to the possible that too much has been consumed either a home test kit for alcohol in breast milk or waiting for a hour or so should ease a breast-feeding mothers mind. Taking care to listen to the baby is ultimately the best indicator of what breast-feeding mothers should or should not eat and when in doubt consult a doctor.

Documenting a child’s stages, growth and development has become even more popular through baby photography. Once just the domain of the well off, or taken only every few years for very special occasions, many households are now opting to have their children’s portraits taken professionally on a much more frequent basis.

More and more parents are taking the step to hire professional baby photographers to start the family journey from pregnancy right through to their grandchildren. If you are a top quality professional photographer, with an impeccable reputation that gets the results, then the opportunity for lifelong clients is immense.

Professional photographers who have a great reputation can avail themselves of the opportunity for a life time of work. Many parents are documenting their child’s life journey before they even enter the world with tasteful pregnancy shots. Grandparents are also becoming a greater portion of the market.

As we have said patience is a necessity when working with small children. Spontaneous photos are always going to be sentimental favorites with families as these are the ones that really demonstrate the individual personality of the child. Drop down to the child’s level and try and remember what you found amusing when you were little. Having the parents provide some of the child’s favorite belongings is another great way to break the ice.

Keeping your photo shoots light hearted and fun will make it fun for the littlies and thinking like a kid will guarantee fantastic results.

Photographing children can be extremely rewarding, but also requires plenty of patience and extremely fast reflexes. If you do not care for children at all, and are of the impatient variety, perhaps you should seek a different avenue of photography. Parents will be very quick to pick up on the fact that you are not even remotely interested in their little darling.

It is a competitive market ” with more demand than ever for children in commercials, and only the best, most unique shots are used. So remember, if you are going to use your clients photos then make sure you get them to sign a release form that gives you permission to sell them commercially.

Baby photography is a competitive arena. However, only the most original shots are going to be used. If you are wanting to use the client’s photos for commercial purposes you must have them sign a release form prior to displaying or submitting the photos for any other purpose. Baby photography is a commercially rewarding avenue, but to be successful the photographer must be skillful, patient, creative and knowledgeable.
